I was thinking the other day about this topic and I could not get it out of my mind.
I recently had an encounter that made me realize the difference between conditional love and unconditional love...Conditional love is when you are going to support and love someone based on circumstances. In some cases people will use their love as a tool to control the people they are close to. Conditional loves is when love is only given when things right for the person who determines when to give it and withdraw it.
If you were raised in a family that demonstrates conditional love you may not know how to show true love and loyalty.
A loyal person must know what unconditional love is in order to be loyal because it is virtually impossible to like someone all day, everyday but it is possible to always love them.
Always meaning, no matter who is around, how they are living their life, what they did to someone, or how they make you feel in that moment. There is no condition that will stop you from loving them. Not to say you have to be around them always or agree with everything that they do, but even loving them from a distance is a form of unconditional love.
It means that when they are doing not so well, and others ask about them they do not say all their faults but they say, "Pray for them or they are fine have you called them?"
Some authors make a distinction between unconditional love and conditional love. In conditional love: love is 'earned' on the basis of conscious or unconscious conditions being met by the lover, whereas in unconditional love, love is "given freely" to the loved one "no matter what".
So what do you give? Do you give the ones you love unconditional love or do you give them conditional love.
I know for me I am learning to love unconditionally and with being aware what the difference is, we can all be better lovers to our friends and family.
In life we live and we learn and in return you learn how to live!!
